# Direct Messages

> One-to-one conversations with human team members in your SellerGen AI workspace.

Direct Messages (DMs) are private conversations between human team members. Separate from agent chat and channel chat.

## Starting a DM

Click the DM icon in the left nav or use the compose button. Select a team member from the available users list.

## DMs vs. channels

Channels are for team + agent communication by topic. DMs are for direct human-to-human communication. Agents do not participate in DMs.
